Festival infrastructure has a physical footprint: traffic, temporary structures, waste, water and intense use of farmland. Fallow years give the land and local systems a break.
That does not make a major festival automatically sustainable, but the willingness to build pauses into the model is worth recognising. ESG is more credible when it includes limits, not only offsets and slogans.
