Verdict: FARA feels more like the sort of neighbourhood place you expect to find in Bristol than a small Somerset town, and that is exactly its appeal. Breakfast, brunch and lunch lean Mediterranean and Middle Eastern, with vegetables treated as proper dishes rather than side notes.

Recent feedback consistently praises the strength of the flavours, presentation and vegetarian choices. The outside space also matters: it gives FARA an easy, sociable feel when the weather behaves.

The menu is deliberately selective rather than encyclopaedic. That helps the kitchen keep a clear style, although anybody looking for a completely conventional cooked breakfast may find it more opinionated than they expected.

Best for: brunch, a long lunch, vegetarians and anyone bored of identikit café menus.

Worth knowing: prices have risen and some diners now notice that, particularly on breakfast dishes. We still think the quality and ambition justify the premium, but it is no longer a bargain café.

GW&B rating: 4/5. Modern, flavour-led and one of Glastonbury’s most useful all-day addresses.
