Verdict: Pyramid Vegan Café understands that vegan food does not have to choose between saintly salads and guilty junk food. Its menu happily runs from dhal and salads to ‘vish’ and chips, burgers, burritos, fried ‘chikun’, pastries and cakes.
That breadth is the point. A committed vegan can eat properly, while somebody dragged in by a plant-based friend can order something recognisably comforting. There is also unusually broad attention to gluten-, soy- and nut-free options.
The café and bakery element makes it useful outside a formal meal too, especially if you want something to take away.
Best for: vegans, mixed dietary groups, lunch on the move and anyone who wants plant-based food without the wellness sermon.
Worth knowing: public review volume is still much smaller than the older Glastonbury institutions, so its reputation is less battle-tested.
GW&B rating: 4/5. Cheerful, flexible and very Glastonbury.
